The invoice type determines how processing takes place * **Customer**: the lines are invoiced to the customer via a [sales invoice](/en/accounts-receivable/sales-invoices.md) * **Internal**: the lines are posted to a cost [general ledger account ](/en/financial/general-ledger-accounts.md)of your choice.
